SMP FOR MEN

Do you have hair loss problems or a scar on your head you want to hide?

If you cannot stand going bald, or if you want to cover a scar on your scalp, we can help you with Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP) by creating the illusion of real shaven hair matching your natural hair color.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SMP stands for Scalp Micro Pigmentation and it is a non-surgical treatment for hair loss. It is a new technique in hair loss treatments which consists in tattooing tiny dots on the scalp with a specialized device, needle and pigments.

SMP treatements are usually completed within 3 sessions to achieve the expected result. The number of sessions is determined according to the amount of work required to achieve the final look. Quotations are fixed and specify the number of sessions needed. No additional fee will be payable if more sessions are needed than originally listed in the quotation. For example, for a hair loss categorized as type 6 on the Norwood scale:

  • D1

    Day 1

The first session typically lasts 6 hours and a half. It includes the application of an anesthetic which takes 30 minutes.

  • D8

    Day 8

The second session takes 30 minutes to 1 hour less than the first session. It is recommended to have it 1 week after the initial procedure. Density is added and the color is adjusted using 2 to 3 different pigment shades to match your natural hair and the hairline is refined.

  • D15

    Day 15

The last session should take place 1 week after the second session to perfect the color and the hairline. The session usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour less than the second session.

We recommend you to shave your hair to obtain the best result.

Scalp pigments differ from permanent make-up pigments and tattoo inks as they are specifically made for scalp:

  • They are MRI scan safe because they do not contain iron oxydes that can cause problems during an MRI scan.
  • They retain their color over time producing better results than permanent make-up pigments that fade gradually. If your hair gets greyer with age, we can still adjust the color to match the greyer color.
  • They are made from a unique formulation of pure black carbon-based pigment. Therefore, the color cannot change over time contrary to other pigments which are usually made of constituent colors that may degrade and separate into their individual shades.
  • We use pigment from the world’s largest scalp micropigmentation company. It has been used in more than 20,000 procedures worldwide.

The machine we are using is one of the best that can be found for SMP and has the following features:

  • Direct drive rotary machine
  • Manufactured in ISO-9000 medical grade facility
  • Precision German motor and bearings
  • Depth control to help reduce possible blowouts
  • Made for disposable needles and grip only
  • Manufactured in the US
  • Lightweight ergonomically balanced
  • Lightest SMP machine on the market

The SMP treatment usually lasts more than 5 years. Fading can be reduced by limiting exposure to sun UV rays and keeping the scalp clean and moisturized. Touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired look and are priced based on the Norwood scale.

A topical anesthetic is applied on your scalp before and during procedure, so very little discomfort is experienced. Most of our clients assess the level of pain as very mild and easily bearable. After the anesthetic loses effect, your scalp will feel hot for a few hours.
